  • Great video, Mr. Jayson and an outstanding .44 Mag you've got! You're one of the only guys that has it right with the gun used in the movie. The Model 29 6.5 inch barrel. Very nice firearm and great presentation. Thanks for the vid....

  • @ludwigdrummer1 Thanks. As much as everyone tells me it was a .41 mag and a 8 inch barrel The Smith and Wesson ad I saw showed and advertised the .44 mag Model 29 6 1/2 inch barrel as the one along with the documentary on the history channel that had someone from the movie taking about it. The documentary was called The Magnums.I think I have another video showing the gun with the Dirty Harty Badge

  • MrJayson1464 you got a Dandy of a gun there bud. But i watched your video and i have to correct you on the Dirty Harry Gun. If you Google Dirty Harry you will get the facts on the actual gun. It was indeed a 8 3/8 inch barrel and it was actually a gun that had been stopped in production, his gun was actually put together from like three guns that had issues. Before Dirty Harry came along the gun sold for $ 200.00 after the movie it went up to $ 800.00 by supply and demand. Enjoy.......

  • @hakesterman History Channel's The Magnums a special on magnum handguns which I believe is on YouTube has an interview with someone involved in the making of Dirty Harry movie and they say it's the 6 inch model. Either way it's all good. 8 3/8 is a bit too long. Funny is watching Dirty Harry over again he uses a .458 magnum rifle which I have shot many times before. Heck of a kick.

  • that is a fuckin beauty. i want one just like that. how much did u pay for it?

  • @Jxxc18 $650 plus tax brand new. Think it has gone up since then. Bought it in 2007.

  • this is indeed the dirty harry gun. I'm fortunate enough to own a 6.5" model 29 no-dash from 1958 with the original diamond grips. I don't even shoot it anyone, I have it in a beautiful presentation case and only break out when I watch the movie:)

  • Your correct, they want a 4 inch barrel, ended up with 6 and 8 inch frames, 8 inch used for close-up only, even for Mr. Eastwood, the 8 inch was way to big for the majority of the film shoot.

  • Here is a story for you all regarding the gun used in the Dirty Harry movie. My uncle who grew up in Los Angeles was good friends with Bruce Surtees. He was the director of photography for Dirty Harry. My uncle owned a S & W 44 Magnum. Bruce had asked my uncle if they could use his gun for a movie they were filming. The actual gun used in the movie was my uncles 44 Mag. Approx one year later my uncle was camping in the Sierra Mtns and his van was broken into and the gun was stolen. True Story!

  • Hes using gloves because he just killed someone with it, and it felt so good that he decided to review the gun with the corpse with beside him...

  • CLASSIC

  • Smith's new classic line. M29-10. Available in 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 inch barrels. Msrp $1129.

Most places retail it for around $950. Look around, any good dealer would put in an order for you.

  • Dear Santa...

  • Dirty Harry Gun!!!

  • @hakesterman If you watch the movies and look at the still pictures you will clearly see that Dirty Harry used a 6 1/2" barrel. I used Google and like you found quite a few stories telling it was a 8 3/8 which just goes to prove the amount of garbage and false information that is posted as 'facts' on the web...
