@sang3Eta The F35 is capable, it's just not practical in a wartime scenario. If the F35 had a small quantity of fuel and no payload it can perform VTOL, same with the Harrier, but if it's in the battlefield, filled with fuel and weapons, neither can do it.
@acidstriker007 if you think scientifically it must be thrusting at least the weight of the aircraft plus some more for stability so it would probably be like having a bus dropped on you
I cant imagine the magnitude of thrust it must take to pluck that thing off the ground like that.. what might happen if a person ended up beneath it during takeoff?
We didn't see it transition from normal flight into a vertical landing. If you want to see that you need to YouTube the Harrier Jump Jet been doing it since 1969 America still trying to catch up with England ;P
@ddioppp he's into classic historic stuff.. that's why.. the limitation of the harrier is it can't go super sonic.. which is why this was made.. plus it has thrust vectoring.. I don't think the harrier has thrust vectoring.. therefore JSF F-35 > harrier
This is how I arrive at work.

@edj66 stop pretending like you know anything about this airplane. and what are your arguments?

@edj66 pretty sure this would pwn a harrier.. the harriers maximum recorded hover is not very long.. it was really tricky to hold.
