  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish I just saw how much you insist on humiliation. Remember that UK also faced the germans in may 40, it brought them until Dunkerque...Defense agreements of the sector had to be (in theory) garanted by spitfires, non visible unless to be above England. Then a fighting spirit appears, the english took a hit and lost the shield, had a warning and woke up. France was too close, from sleep to death.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish "quite happy to let the british fight but notyourselves" please, for once in history that UK doesnt pay others to fight for them... Due to weak french diplomacy, France has been the continental shield of UK to contain Germany. French losses of WW1 were much heavier while UK sent troops in Mesopotamia. During WW2 France broke earlier than considered by UK and they had to imply too heavily to be "the referee above ashes" at the end of the war

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish And what if everyone who can leave? The remainder, old people, wives of soldiers, kids, they see with the germans? Some had to stay to face the winner arrival and represent an authority. Sure sad compromises have been done, better to be far away at this moment.

  • @1428jeanluc , if the germans wanted the french fleet early in the war , the germans would of executed any of the french who denied them, vichey frence were traitors , you even put petain on trial for his life , the french did open fire on the allies when they landed in morrocco etc, we were trying to defeat germany who occupied france ,we gave you the chance to fight to liberate france and you didnt take that chance , quite happy to let the british fight but notyourselves

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish "who said that you wouldnt of let the germans have the ships"? Amiral Darlan, Gensoul showed secret orders to Holland, Vichey or not, every captain of any unit sinks his ship or makes it durably unable to fight if any foreign power tries to take it. "later in the war to opening fire on allies", you can't be serious. The forces attacked by UK and US were about to be disarmed,Dewoitine fighters that came to simulate defense on ark royal were without amo

  • @lahire1428 you had no power, if the germans had entered mers el kebir ,the french wouldnt of done a thing,,they would of occupied the rest of vichey held territory , you were a defeated occupied nation ,humiliated by germany ,,what sort of people were you to be happy with that,, later in the war to opening fire on allies ,who at the end of the day liberated france

  • @lahire1428 the thing is half of france was occupied by german forces , would you be happy with that , vichey ,or the leaders of vichey were collaberators ,you had a french fleet that could of joined us to liberate your country ,crazy , heres the british lone in europe ,free french leaders in england, what did youwant ,others to do the fighting while the french sunbathed in north africa, vichey french were friendly to the germans , who said that you wouldnt of let the germans have the ships

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish Churchill should have listened to the Admiralty. Case by case negociations with french major units was the most efficient solution. Believe me, none captain would have given his ship intact, neither to the german nor the english, and the best prove for this is the choice of fight in desperate conditions against H squadron, commanded by Somerville instead of North and called back for catapult after having stranded his ship in 1939)

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish First: I'd like to see the english giving their fleet to the french (lol)

2nd: "they had the choice to join us and fight, together" impossible, occupied french factories couldnt follow (specific amunitions and pieces the english were unable to produce)

3d: "go to the west indies or the likes" not said in the doc but the crew had to be at 2 third and escorted by the british fleet (once offshore, commandos were ready like in metropole harbours of england)
