  • You pretty much nailed it. My rectangular odd size stretched canvas is in the proportions of the Golden Ratio; Phi. Should I decide to frame it, I will make the frame myself as well.. :)

  • Well, I think the main reason you would want to stretch your own canvas instead of buying a pre-stretched canvas is so you can paint on unusual sizes. Pre-stretched canvas generally comes in standard sizes such as 11X14, 16X20, 18X24, etc. If he was more concerned with it being able to fit into a standard-sized frame, then he might as well have just bought a pre-stretched canvas.

  • I'm a traditional painting. Good going, however, this is not a standard size. Good luck trying to frame it in this time.
