The fire alarm went off briefly at the Maplewood Mall, at least for a minute, I was only able to capture the last 5-10 seconds of the alarm because like I mentioned it was an unexpected fire alarm. As you can see the video is pointed on the floor most of the time to avoid getting caught by mall personal. I taped this the day after I returned from Chicago on vacation.
I did notice at other Malls in the Twin Cities Metro, some have voice and alarm such as Rosedale, Mall of America and Southdale. This mall does not and I think all malls should have such a device.

If any one out there knows what model these alarms are, please respond! I especially would like to know what the wind up whoop alarm is.

  • A wild mix! Sounds like also 9833s or 9838s and Wheelock AS or MT.

  • I did see a Wheelock AS in the T Mobile Store in the Mall

  • You say you think malls should have an alarm with a voice...you were smart enough to figure out it was a fire alarm, why do you need to hear a voice too? Everyone knows, that when you hear a fire alarm it means get the fu(k out...do you have a set of headphones that say "breathe in, breathe out" in order for you to live?

  • believeThe Woops Iv heard Before in the Palace or auburn Hills I believe they where REALLY OLD Wheelock the boxy one with a checkerboard look frame and the strobe is very slow flash

  • I'm pretty sure the whoops are Notifier. We had those at my middle school. I've been trying to find those myself, I just need to find out the model number!

  • I can tell that the horn is some sort of simplex.

  • Fmbloxghost and zachray263 - there is new thinking in Emergency Management pertaining to not immediately evacuating during an alarm. Some revolves around exit capacity, some has to do with human response and behavior. In a large building, it is not always necessary to evac the whole thing.

Worcester2007- the voice-type alarm is new and not applicable to all buildings due to acoustics. Your mall might get voice when they upgrade the alarm in a few years.

  • I had a goddamned scary dream where I was sitting in m classroom and a guy ran ino the room and screamed fire, then I got up and walked out the door, but my legs kept collapsing and everyone was running twoards a door at the end of the hallwaywhile I kept falling down and could barley stand. That, to this day, was one of my scariest dreams.

  • if it asks you to locate your exit, why would it say there is no need to evacuate?

  • i been having dreams take my mom went out of a fire alram door and i fell down down and was not able to get up
