President Johnson makes a brief statement about his decision to order American troops to the Dominican Republic to protect American citizens. The video begins after Johnson has already begun talking, and it omits the first sentence of the statement: "I have just concluded a meeting with the leaders of the Congress."

It was a long time ago, remember the past but don't let it consume you

  • Fidel Castro's record is NOTHING compared to what Somoza was doing in Nicaragua or Papa Doc in Haiti. Did Fidel feed his opponents to lions as Somoza did in Nicaragua? In fact, even today, Cuba's human rights record is quite mellow compared to the top ranking abusers which remain Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, El Salvador etc.

  • The US did the right thing invading all those comunist countries and destroing the backbone of many Fidel Castros Wanna be.

  • US terror? Waoooo, if that is what you call terror how about Fidelito in Cuba,,

  • @titusho2 You are talking trash, my country the Dominican Republic is one of the most capitalist country in Latin America and one of the fewer countries who's population is the least hostile against the US. Our country is visited anually by more than 4 million American and European tourist. So may I ask you in wich "CUEVA" you are living???

  • US imperialism recycling the same use of terror and force already familiar to Salvadorans, Nicaraguans, Haitians etc. etc.

  • the problem is that United States always want to try to control other nation doing one thing or another,,,,, im american and i know that the policy of my country on other country is not good.. they always get in the way of others country...

  • the dominican gorrilas in the dominican civil war wouldnt have made it any way with the fact that they were outnumbered and out gunned
