It's not just the camaraderie, but the subtle coercion and manipulation that so insidious and dangerous, which leaves the unsuspecting vulnerable to be dragged into something that could bankrupt them and destroy their family.

Did you notice the strategy of Tom's interrupting Matt to repeatedly tell him that he was asking him a question? I've noticed this pattern of turning inquiries around to take control and project back onto the questioner or interviewer a suggestion of ill intent or ignorance in order to deflect from themselves. It's slick.

Scientology doesn't lure in as many unintelligent people as one might think. The lure of Scientology is the social aspect. Friends lure in friends, lovers lure in lovers, and when one joins, everyone is excited to have you. It's not that there's something wrong with your judgment. It's the seduction of being part of something and fitting in with a community. Having a whole group of people who believe what you believe.

I'm sorry, but no. Tom isn't "out of control". The public were practically demanding that Cruise talk about his devotion to this fruitcake religion (yes, I'm on YOUR side), and he did. Now he gets crapped on for talking about? Sorry but that doesn't fly.
