  • @MBOhana the biggest mistake you can make in life is being to afraid to make one. trust yourself. the first couple of times it may hurt a little but thats how we learn, thru our mistakes. but keep practicing and you will get the hang of it.

  • Lately, when I roll, I'd hurt my shoulder on the way, disrupting the entire motion. What am I doing wrong?

  • Just started and i'm on my 2nd lesson whenever i get in to positon and role my legs don't go over my head. I know some of you guys are giving suggestions so i would love some help but i don't think i have the same problem as the people already helped, i don't hesitate because i'm scared but rather since i can never seem be able to get it right, it's like it is too simple so i must be doing it wrong.

  • @MBOhana I was also afraid to try it but I got myself to do a roll starting from a position that was more comfortable to me.Instead of starting at a standing position, start at a crouching position. Pretend like you are reaching down to grab something from the floor. Do this over a padded mat. If you are afraid of going from standing to rolling, try just falling (not rolling) from a standing position over a pile of pillows. Once you start somewhere and try once, you will feel much less afraid.

  • i like the way he explains it at the end thats his method and you need to know whats confortable for you nice vid

  • @MBOhana im having the same fear as u and the standing roll is just impossible for me to do :/ im heavy too but if u learn the technique correctly u can roll without pain and therefore without fear :) i hope so at least..

  • I don't know why I'm so scared of rolling. I always hesitate. How do I get past that?

  • i am a ildan 1st degree black belt in choi kwang do and a yellow belt in aikido, rolling is more difficult too learn at first but once u learn it its easy

  • I do not like the way his hands touch the ground.

I did not learn this way, and upon seeing both methods, I realize this man would not be able to grip any object during the roll.

The move can be done without using the front of the hands at all.

  • @defeatedwyvern Well if you plan on having techniques performed on you as well as performing them on others then you're going to want to learn to do these properly, unless you enjoy faceplanting repeatedly.
