In July, 2010, I had the privilege of visiting several Civil Rights landmarks in Montgomery, Selma, and Birmingham, Alabama, and in Jackson, Mississippi. Such sites are incredibly moving, especially those (such as the Dexter Ave, Baptist Church and Parsonage in Montgomery) where you have a knowledgeable guide or docent to yourself. Halfway between Montgomery and Selma, the Lowndes County Interpretive Center is a fantastic resource, as are the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, right next to the 16th St. Baptist Church.

The music is "Vortex" from Duke Ellington's The River ballet suite.
