I improvised an E flat blues based on riffs from Jamie Cullum solos.

Yeah you sussed me! It's the I Get A Kick Out Of You solo from Jamie's Blenheim Palace gig. My tip for left hand blues changes is to play dominant 7ths on every chord - just hitting the 3rd and flattened 7th works pretty well. Jamie seems to favour 3 note voicings, which is what I mostly use here. Apart from his blues riffs, I struggle to make sense of his solos in terms of scales. Apparently he doesn't know any music theory so probably couldn't tell you himself.what he's doing or why it works.

Jamie Cullum has done a lot of studies and thats sure.He used to play in certain scales but when you get the hang of you can just play what you hear. Many jazz pianists have played such things but Jamie's style and feel is what makes him that great even among amazing jazz pianists.
