Nani Agbeli, a Ghanaian percussion and dance instructor, recently performed with Lawrence University's Kinkaviwo African Drum Ensemble. Nani also organizes learning trips to Ghana, Africa, which several Lawrence students have found life changing.

Besides providing world-class training in Western music, the Lawrence Conservatory of Music has a strong commitment to providing students with a broad exposure to the music traditions of the world.

"Understanding other cultures is vital to our liberal education philosophy," said Brian Pertl, dean of the conservatory and ethnomusicologist. "It is part of our culture at Lawrence."
