They do get hungry, and tired. The thing with anorexia is that no matter how much they want to eat, and they do want to, they can't. It's just not within their control. After you've been hungry for a bit, it starts to go away, it starts to get easier to forget about. And by that time they've lost any control they might have had. The anorexia doesn't give them any choice, and the pain of hunger is nothing in comparison to the fear it gives them of gaining even one pound. I hope tha

This is above and beyond, how can they take it this far to realize what she is doing that to herself?

@idfgirl18 watch "a warning from beyond the grave." That woman got to 40 lbs. Look at Samantha kendall and aimee moore. They were at 60 and 70 lbs (samantha was really tall). Read Wasted, Marya Hornbacher's autobiography. She gets to 52 lbs. I've seen other cases, too. It may not be as frequent, but it does happen. You don't have to be super short. That's what happens when your body's eaten away all the fat and muscle, and after your bones waste away from osteoporosis.

@sbellino The actress who played the mother was Jill Clayburgh, who was diagnosed with leukemia four years before this film was made. Jill's frame could have been the result of her body's suffering from chemotherapy. Chemo can really debilitate a person's body, inducing a lack of appetite and nausea too. I do see your point, but I think it was just an unintended coincidence. Full kudos to Jill and Tracey for working despite being ill. Unfortunately, leukemia took Jill's life last year ;( RIP xx
