    One caveat: On a fresh install of quickly (et al) in Raring Ringtail (13.04), the TextEntry widget did not accept any text. Investigation showed the can_focus property in the common properties was set to "No". Changing this to "Yes" fixed it and all else worked as eloquently presented by Master Jono.

    Nowadays developers should checkout developers.ubuntu.com , and build a QT application, to run across all platforms, instead of a GTK application (shown here)
