There's an old saying: "Nobody remembers who came in second. Everyone remembers who came in first."
And in 2007, the Patriots, despite going 16-0 the regular season and going 18-1, went home with a loss and the Giants came in first.
-
Who cares? So what? That 16-0 the 2007 Pats made was only a footnote for the season.
Once the 2007 Pats lost Super Bowl XLII to the 2007 Giants, nobody remembers the Pats going 16-0 during the regular season. They're taking about the Pats going 18-1 and going home emptyhanded after losing the Giants.
It's like you lead the Indianapolis or Daytona 500 on every lap except the last one.
-
That 16-0 regular season doesn't mean a thing without winning the Super Bowl ring.
-
@joesakic91 there was only 16 games if you went to super bowl back then they all went 15-1 with no super bowl win. but dolphins went 16-0 including the superbowl and playoff round. pats are the only ones to go 16-0 for regular season
-
@joesakic91 the dolphins went 14-0 for regular season there was only 14 regular season games back then and then they won super bowl the 49ers only went 15-1 in 1984 bears went 15-1. they didnt put 16 regular season games til like 10 years ago. Patriots are the only ones to go 16-0. NE4LIFE!!
-
18-1 is a good record...IF AND ONLY IF you win the Super Bowl to go along with it.
The 1984 San Francisco 49ers and the 1985 Chicago Bears also went 18-1, but also won their Super Bowls.
-
tom Brady is the best and Eli not so much so stop chit chat-tin an watch the giants lose BOO YOU!!
-
18-1
-
@evry1poops1 Yeah, and I also think the Buffalo Bills should have won one of the four straight Super Bowls that they went to. But it doesnt always happen they way you'd think.
-
@kitrick42 So....they still havent won a playoff game in that time....Dont you think a team that has "EARNED" first week bye should atleast put one away??
@BoltChong
The 1984 San Francisco 49ers and the 1985 Chicago Bears also went 18-1 just like the 2007 New England Patriots.
Difference is, the 1984 49ers and 1985 Bears are considered to be the two best teams in NFL history other than the 1972 Miami Dolphins because they won their Super Bowls to go along with that 18-1 record. The 2007 New England Patriots went 18-1, but went home emptyhanded.
Case closed. I win, you lose.
