i did say "playing". chris dave is the perfect blend of technicality and groove, etc. someone can always take an easy style of playing and blow it up. reggae is also easy to "just play", but every kind of music takes a while to actually master.
For me, Topper Headon did an amazing job by playing some reggae back in UK in the punk scene. It's just not about being jamaican or english, rocker or reggae or making one drop beats just to justifie the reggae stylee, it's about the bassline riddim you can get by making percussion.

hip hop is a pretty easy genre to play. he should really get into jazz or latin beats, those take a ton of skill.
