I agree... I think that if a horse is smart enough to know that a whack to the hindquarters means "go faster", then they should understand the words just as easily.

A couple of these horses look they might be having fun, running around like this.. some of the others, though, look like they wished they were doing dressage or something instead. xD

I barrel race with a horse that loves her job, we run barrel patterns with me not kicking or yanking the reins or using spurs. our patterns are normally about 16 to 18 seconds. all of the hitting with crops nd kicking with spurs is not necessary. your horse can only go so fast
-
the reason the hit the horse with the reins is to speedit up i do it all the time in pracice and in rodeo
-
My horse loves every second of his runs and misses it now that I've retired him.

@breyernleo Its not cruel. We try to train them in the most humane possible while building a special bond with our equine companions. If the horse loves to do it and is treated appropriately, it is not cruel.
-
I agree to what @breyernleo is saying, If the horse loves his job and is not forced into doing it, then let him have fun, and u have fun with him
-
@breyernleo It isent cruel If the horse loves it. You need that horse that likes barrel racing

I don't think it's necessary to hit your horse with the reins.
