With thousands heeding the army's call to donate cash and gold to shore up the battered economy of Thailand, Thai pop music is satirising the calamity.
A young, smiling popstar croons: "My pay's been cut, my tears now fill the car I took years to buy as it's being repossessed..." Another popular song goes "Why does your heart keep changing like the Baht?" Most tellingly, credit card ads are advising people against consumption: "Wake up Thai people, don't be obsessed! Be more aware, spend less!" A hilarious report on true human fortitude.

Time to back the acts with the facts. Tourism is rock bottom; residnecy is more revered. Just throwing your many at 'em still never fails to bring that "thanks you honky idiot" smile. Good news is, "oh-oh I dunno".
