American grips are responsible for settling flags, flying diffusion, and a lot of other tasks that are the responsibility of Electricians and construction on European sets.

Well if you compare the Danish Film industry to the US film industry you should be able to figure it out... what are you working on an industrial film about soap? These are big shows or commercials where there are a lot of things going on across a wide spectrum of sets, locations. Judging from the light and location it looks like Disney ranch early and the Key grip probably has not only his regular crew but also his "rigging" crew all "on deck" to get this "Techno" crane ready for shot 1!

All that for 1 line of dialog.

LOCAL 80 GRIPS! aka S8
How many grips are there in this shot!!
I work in the danish film industry, and normaly there's only one grip on a job, and at most two if there's a crane on it!!

It may seem like too many grips but this is television where everything needs to be done quickly and these guys and gals do a great job. Same with the electricians and art department and make up wardrobe and hair. I think we have too many above the line producers on the call sheet but hey I am just an actor!
