  • I just got my dreads done and i was wondering.how can i remove the funny smell for the first couple of months without washing?

  • Unfortunately you can't remove the smell without washing it. You can cover the smell with fragrance through oil-sprays and cologne, etc.

  • you should make more videos

  • how do you keep your hair from getting frizzy? Seems like a really soft texture.

  • do u need two differnt shampoos? one for scalp then another for lock???

  • @smokeyJAP Someone has to put this but ppl who have dreads wash their hair. Not washing your hair for 2 months is disgusting....

  • I love these vids. I have been using her technique for 4 months now. I know for a fact now that my hair is clean when I wash this way :o)

  • naw it's been almost 2 years now...i just have real fine hair...i still have a few places in the front that haven't completely loc'd up. when i tried washing them the new growth poofs out and it looks horrible!

  • This is not really a professional opinion, but I have had dreads for a few years and they are completely self-maintained.

It depends on how fast your hair locs, but basically only until they have formed enough so that they wont come apart if you washed them. So, and I'm estimating here, maybe like a few weeks to a month or so...good luck, i remember how hard it was not washing my hair at first.

  • did you recently start your locs? if so, in a few more months after they have locked up a but more you wont have to maintain them, or at least not as much.

  • thanks for these washing videos. but i disagree about having lots of build-up in the core if they are stiffer/hang heavier. those with very thick, kinky hair are going to have stiffer locs if they are locked tight and mature. this doesnt necessarily mean they are dirty at the core. i think its different for people with straighter hair.
