Pilot: 'We're Going to Be in the Hudson'

Federal officials have released the audio of the conversation the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549 had with air traffic controllers as his plane lost power and he had to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River. (Feb. 5)

This really is such inspiring audio. Talk about stepping up to the plate. There isn't a hint of fear or panic in his voice, just total concentration.

this is amazing he most definitely was calm and collected and did not freak out im proud we have awesome people out there like him :) if im on an airplane i want him as a pilot

The pilot was so casual!!! I'd have screamed mayday and self ejected and let the rest crash and go to hell.

@crumcon he can give assistance however when an emergancy mayday type call is given especially of this severity the pilot is perfectly within his rights to disregard any atc comand and/or faa/caa regulation he deems nessary

shouldn't the ATC the one that should give them the assistance where to land the safest. i mean.. they lost both trust on both engines.. dont the ATC guy know they could not make the turn??
