Eels perform "Mr. E's Beautiful Blues" on a show in 2000. This is their infamous appearance where they were not allowed to play live and therefore had to do a playback performance.

  • @Steele4689 Well if you'd ever heard the album version before, you'd know he IS singing live here. Ever considered the fact that the audio is just out of sync with the video?

Does he sing: "Ching ching" on the album version?

Does he make little errors in the first few lines on the album version? No.

He is singing live, but they are not playing live.

  • @geminirat60 vocals are live.. everything else is mimed.

  • @Steele4689 they are live! live lipsyncing

  • it's funny how some people don't get the joke...he was made to lip sync so he made a joke of it. notice how he's not even playing guitar half the time? pretty sure he wouldn't do that badly if he was trying. it's like Muse on some european TV show...they switched around the position of everyone in the band lol, singer on the drums etc

  • @Livy2K if you opened your eyes and read what i said, what i actually said was PERHAPS they're poor live, not accusation there, I can't give a definate comment because i personally haven't seen them live and this is mimed. so i have no reference to comment.

  • @Steele4689 so you are saying the eels are a poor live act? maybe you should take a trip out from your basement and check them out next tour :)

  • @Livy2K if you say so, rebelling against what though exactly not much of a statement really is it! other than they are poor live perhaps... that is often the reason acts are asked to lipsync.

haha nice assumption you've made of me there. also the fact i care or not as the case maybe about if something is falsley advertised as live has absolutely no corrolation to how rebellious my personaly may or may not be!!!

  • @Steele4689 because its a way to rebel? the fact you care that whether or not its marked as live tells me you dont do much rebelling yourself.

  • @Livy2K also as he is clearly lipsyncing it isnt live and shouldnt be described as such.

  • @Livy2K why would you lipsync badly on purpose?!?!
