Although they co-starred on TV's legendary YOUR HIT PARADE for four years, it was rare that Gisele MacKenzie and Dorothy Collins got to sing a duet! On March 9, 1957, the live net work broadcast brought the two fabulous vocalists together to sing Pat Boone's big hit, Don't Forbid Me, and a Lucky Strike Commercial. Your Hit Parade presented the top 7 songs of the week and two oldies as clever musical skits...in this one, Charley Chaplin's Little Tramp Character is dreaming of the best harem ever: Gisele & Dorothy...until he's busted by the police. Closing the clip, Gisele & Dorothy join the other Hit Parade stars to sing that classic closing theme, So Long for Awhile. Your Hit Parade, by this time, was down to its last few programs with its best cast, Gisele, Dorothy, Russell Arms & Snooky Lanson. When Gisele announced that she wouldn't return to the show for another season, and had plans for her own Jack Benny-produced TV series, Hit Parade sponsors and producers decided it was time to overhaul the show. An entirely new cast was brought on board for the 1957-1958 season, which failed miserably. Some years later Gisele, a life-long non-smoker in real life, was asked in an interview about appearing on this 1950's cigarette sponsored show, and sadly replied "O my, I guess I did advertise cancer!" She had been battling cancer at the time herself, and overcame it, until it came back with avengence...Miss MacKenzie left us with some of the finest entertainment memories of her time!

Wow! So Dorothy and Gisele really did sing a duet together! I always wondered! Was this the only time the two ever harmonized together? Thank you for posting this rare clip.. it's not very often you see epsiodes from '57!

Gisele and Dorothy sang a few duets, and group numbers with the rest of the Hit Parade cast. I recall on one show Gisele and Dorothy were trick-or-treating and rang a door bell, then sang "Tonight You Belong to Me". Cute and harmonious!
