  • BTW, my kv36fs200 is doing the EXACT same thing. Judging by the similar threads I have seen, I am starting to think this is another revenue ploy under the guise of "quality assurance" (HP is notorious) Seems like an info banner would do the same without disabling the set. I would hate to add Sony to my s**t list, but recently the brand has lost a lot of the staying power that used to give me such confidence.

  • So, what did you do about your kv36fs200?

    Did you get it fixed?

  • That is an AKB circuit error. This can be caused due to bad components on the circuit or even worse a bad picture tube.

  • afterthought- I noticed that mine would start blinking right away upon being plugged in even before power up. same with yours?

  • But it is thanks to your post that I'll actually have some useful information to give the folks when I call - The response that narrowed it down to the eeprom/white balance problem might make it easier to get a realistic estimate.

  • how bout yours? any luck?

I also had a kv35v35 that lasted a bit longer, but that one I managed to revive (for a while) by turning up the focus screw. I forget exactly where, but there is a HUGE posting list of folks who might end up with a class action suit. Try googling "sony trinitron petition OR problems". At the very least you certainly won't feel alone. It's shocking how many posts there are with the same problem

  • no, but I haven't thrown it out yet either. Last week I found out that Sears actually has a mobile tv repair unit of sorts and I mean to call and find out if it's worth it. It would be such a shame to just toss it. I'll post again if I get a quote, but from the growing # of sets being given away on craigslist I'm not real optimistic.

  • you are a genious. With the bloody crts weighing more than a buck-fifty nowadays, this could be the the new thing in repair calls = considerably cheaper than having a tech come to you and much easier than dragging it around.
