Cloud, as for me, I don't care if the Republicans want to jump on the bandwagon of the tea party movement. I believe the Republican party knows it needs to change and are making the effort. I see that within the party ... I think they are much more able to say yes we made mistakes and we will change ... whereas I never see democrats say that.

@amriemer : Not only that they can be removed, but that you are acknowledging that other men have the power to remove them. I realize that this is more of an ideological disagreement but I believe that it's an important one.

@amriemer dammit, my apologies.
-
dangerous how? That they can be removed?

Again, you are completely missing the point.
I'm not suggesting that any of our leaders are tyrannical dictators... We are talking about the role of religion in government. I am suggesting that your inalienable rights (life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness) are not granted by man and the consequence of believing that they are is dangerous.
I think we're having 2 different conversations here. I get your point, but I don't think that you get mine.

"Tyrannical" or tyranny, = "Power that is taken by force" I did not see any of our officials get into office by force. Thus, they are not tyrannical. So refrain from that word. By voting you are affording the elected the right to represent you and your interests. If you disagree, be political active and get change. You are relating a thief to the gov?
Please tell me that the 912 project in texas does NOT fall for Palin and Glenn Beck... they have tried to commandeer the movement that Ron Paul started in 2007.

Doesn't matter who started it, we don't need another Ross Perot.
The Republican Party has always been the conservative party. They have stood for limited government, a strong military and fiscal responsibility for more than 150 years.
Reaching out to the left and putting Rhinos in office is what got us in trouble, and taking back the Republican party with conservative leadership is what's going to get us out of this mess.

Why vote for someone who believes in 90% of your ideals that can't win when you can vote for someone who holds 85% of your ideals that CAN win?

... and just for the record (on a side rant)... Ross Perot was partly responsible for heaping the Clinton Administration on us which ultimately set the stage for the housing market crash. Poor fiscal policy (bailing out banks) and forcing lenders to make bad loans turned a booming Reagan economy around to what we have today.
Don't forget, fiscal policy can take 8-16 years to boil up and bubble over. Elections have consequences my friend, both in the short run and in the long run.
