Carlos Guastavino (Argentine, 1912-2000)

"La Rosa y el Sauce" (text: Francisco Silva y Valdés) /The Rose and the Willow / La Rose et le Saule / Die Rose und die Weide : arr. Guillo Espel

Anna Netrebko, soprano
Prague Philharmonia
Emmanuel Villaume, conductor

  • Listen to "pero una niña coqueta", It is out of tune!!!!. Netrebko can be a good singer in other repertoire but I don´t think she does a great job in this one in particular.

If somebody doesn´t know Elly Ameling, doesn´t know much about art song.

  • Thanks for sharing great video & song of this Queen

    1 000 *****

  • Serenaluce..just because a singer is in the past does not make them irrelevant to the present or the future, for that matter. If you do not know Elly Ameling because you are too young to have heard of her, then try and find some of her older recordings and listen to this marvelous Dutch singer. Sorry, if I was so vehement about my dislike of Netrebko...i just don't care for the woman's voice. But I will not "shut up" and I will "push" my opinion if I so choose.

  • @Sotzume Don't you know that how many people, so many opinions? If you don't like it, oh well. You think that somewhat Elly Ameling is better, whom nobody seem to know but you. I'll try to listen to her version if I am able to find it. But I don't live in the past. Nobody nowadays sings like Caruso or Lotte Leman like nobody wears similar clothes as they did. So, you can prefer somebody else's version, of course, it's your right. But why such pushing advices?! AN is great! I beg you to SHUT UP!!

  • es buena interpretacion pero necesito a mi gusto mas melancolia desde su inicio .

  • es verdad coincido!

  • no es una declaración de guerra!!! xq grita así!?

  • Netrebko can't sing her way out of a paper bag..the voice is just ugly...the musicality lacking, the tone strident, barely on pitch. Just horrid...what are you people hearing that I am not? Please find the recording of Elly Ameling singing this song on an old album(yes, an LP, God forbid) called "Remember Me" if you want to hear this incredibly beautiful Gustavino song given justice. This rendition is just awful, unlistenable. Please, someone, beg Anna Netrebko to retire SOON!

  • what a wonderful woman!

  • Only Anna Netrebko can sing so beautifully and graciously! Goddess! This is from her new album "Souvenirs".

  • The voice full of lyric and love... Goddess!

  • Very, very beautiful! Splendid voice! Brava!

  • This song, poem is so pretty!!!!

I like the lied version with piano from Bernarda Fink a litlle more...smaller.

    Like a painting!

    Although Netrebko does great job.
