  • My father is a primitive baptist preacher in Virginia and this is how they sing. I found it very interesting that this sound originated in Scotland. From what I have read the applalacian mountains where first settled by the Scots Irish.

  • Very interesting. I have heard hymns "lined" in the very rural very Deep South - but they weren't Scots, nor even European for sure. Curious.

  • Beautiful

  • Forgive me for pointing out an error. The images representing the Scottish gaelic psalms were from a Church of Scotland which is not representative of the austere surroundings of the Free Church of Scotland where gaelic psalms were and still survive.Great care and attention was made by those who broke free from the shackles of the landlords and their clergy to rid themselves of any frivilous decoration.

  • Thanks for posting :]
