On a windy March afternoon, the Red Cross in Dallas was called to a 3-alarm fire on the far north side of the city. When we arrived, 30 people lined the curb and 12 units were reduced to rubble. Red Cross volunteers made sure that everyone had a safe place to stay, financial assistance for new clothing, shoes and groceries and we distributed sweat suits, socks and tennis shoes from our Disater Releif Vehicle.
Three families every day need help from the Red Cross, just in the Dallas area. Be prepared for home fires by going to www.redcross.org and downloading free info on home fire safety.
