08 doesn't have an external fuel filter. Non serviceable...btw u have a leak above ur oil filter. Possibly a PS pump. LOL u say to use a OEM oil filter but you have a FRAM...nice!!

The 2012 Impreza has the oil filter on the top of the engine. Very handy. As well, I have heard of some people pumping out the used oil from the top. This means never having to get under the car for an oil change.

How important is the changing of the crush ring? When my mom drove it a couple of days ago, the car started smoking up. I am still questioning whether if it were caused by me not replacing the crush ring thus the oil is leaking and burning on the tubes or if there were really something wrong with the engine. Since I am not really close to any Subaru dealers, I really want to know if I can take care of the problem without resorting to the pricey manufacturer.

Car should have been on a level surface to drain oil, u still have some oil in your sump

should also note for those doing it on a wrx, or even rs etc, the headers are very close to the oil filter, and be carefull not to burn your hand. I have my accident a few times, nice little blister has formed because of it
