I have a Dell XPS M1530 running Ubuntu 9.10 (Jaunty Jackalope). The internal mic volume was very low in recordmydesktop. I fixed it by changing the ALSA device in use from 'DEFAULT' to 'pulse'.

  • Everything is working fine for me. Sound is messy in Linux on most systems that I've used. Maybe the nicest XPS-specific thing I've noticed since the upgrade is that my wireless networking reconnects a *lot* faster when resuming from suspend.

  • Thanks for sharing. this works for me too! :D

  • I had lots of problems with pulse in Karmic; had to remove pulse. Now I use alsa, but ... had been a pain in the butt trying to config my mic in record my desktop. Sometimes works, sometimes not.

  • Thanks for your post. Are all the other things wokring? I also want to upgrade from 8 to 9.10 on my XPS M1530.
