Two amateur musicians (Charles Haller and Rob Krumm) lay it on, having fun at the St. Louis Soulard farmers' market. It creates a friendly, enjoyable atmosphere indeed! Put on your dancing shoes!

  • Wait a minute...dang, that's me! I remember playing with Charlie a few years back and we met again recently at Soulard Market to play again.

    Rob Krumm (Urbana, IL)

  • Thanks, Rob, for identifying yourself! That was a nice little romp, that day at the market, and it greatly contributed to the general ambiance there! You guys really seemed to have fun playing together! Hi 5!

  • In Holland we have coin's and the first paper money is about 5 euro. That's 5 dollar. You getting rich or the 1 dollar paper is verry in use.

  • we do not use 1 dollar coins here, although they exist. They are too similar to the 25 cent piece, so people would make mistakes all the time.

I think people throw quarters or dollar notes into the hat!

  • yeah, he sure looks like an original, lol, very cool with his cut-off gloves, lol. Thanks for the info, we'll go to hear him play and have a drink at the Barley soon!

(Don't you just love the way he laughs at the end? Joy of living!!!

  • Nice, that's Charles Haller of The Bates Street Folk & Blues Band on banjo. He is there every Saturday.

  • Oh, thank you so much for sharing that with me, I had no idea who he is, but I just loved listening to them and share the good humor and fun music these two put out! Now that I know, I'll return to see them there next Saturday!

  • dude this is my uncle Charles! hhaha that' sweet

  • The Continental Congress and Confederate States used paper money for almost all their banknotes. Both governments lacked the precious metals to make metal coins or to back up their paper money and, invariable, their money wasn't worth the matches to burn it.

Some Americans still distrust paper money for this reason and you'll occasionally hear of some guy buying a house with suitcases full of quarters.
