These rustic chairs have a contemporary design featuring floating seat, back and headrests. They are made out of Spalted Tiger Maple and American Hop-Hornbeam (Ironwood).

  • very nice , i was wondering , did you have to bend the curved pieces, or could you just kinda cut them to shape, and using that as a lounge piece , would to wood wear out and lay back to much , and is there any type of wood that i should use for that part, or a wood that i shouldnt use . any help is apreciated.

  • @whatleymattu The curves are laminated from 6 strips of rock maple each. The curves are glued together on a form that has the desired shape. The seats and backs are supported only by the curves so they have to be extremely strong. You can't just cut the pieces out - they would just snap where the grain goes perpendicular to the curves. You should use the strongest wood available, like maple, oak, or ash. Good luck.
