CSS&SB (South Shore) Railroad car 34 zips by during the trolley pageant at Illinois Railway Museum on July 4, 2009. IRM's volunteer experts have made it possible for this 1500 volt DC car to run on IRM's 600 volt DC trolley wire. The South Shore is widely considered to be America's "Last Interurban." Car 34 was built in 1929.

  • Wow! It's so great to see the old bug running again. I grew up riding these old cars. Used to spend some of my happiest days riding from South Bend, to Michigan City and spend the day at the beach. I wish the new cars had the old horns on them. Thanks!
