god this brings back memories; this is the best Lord of the Rings adaption ever. I remember watching this as a kid. This is the Lord of the Rings i grew up with :)

@flixization So true! This one scene - along with Sam and the Ring above - are some of the most powerful visions I can recall in ANY version . These scenes show us WHY the ring is so hard to resist, what it promises and even gives to its (ab)users.
That and said scene shows sides to bother characters that you would never have seen otherwise, which fleshes them out more then if they were just "tired, put-upon-yet-heroic ring-bearers" all the time.

You missed the part where Frodo throws down Gollum, and says "Begone and trouble me no more! If you touch me ever again, you shall be cast yourself into the fires of DOOM!" That moment always stuck with me since childhood, the way Frodo briefly drew himself up, becoming this majestic figure of power.
