The two main instances where the song is played in the animated feature of the Return of the King 1980. First part is Sam with the ring and contemplates if he should claim it. Second instance is Frodo succumbing and claiming the ring.

  • @flixization So true! This one scene - along with Sam and the Ring above - are some of the most powerful visions I can recall in ANY version . These scenes show us WHY the ring is so hard to resist, what it promises and even gives to its (ab)users.

That and said scene shows sides to bother characters that you would never have seen otherwise, which fleshes them out more then if they were just "tired, put-upon-yet-heroic ring-bearers" all the time.

  • You missed the part where Frodo throws down Gollum, and says "Begone and trouble me no more! If you touch me ever again, you shall be cast yourself into the fires of DOOM!" That moment always stuck with me since childhood, the way Frodo briefly drew himself up, becoming this majestic figure of power.
