Yussuf Maleli, VoicesofAfrica mobile reporter in Kibwezi, Kenya- Many people in Kibwezi have adopted sack-farming to get the needed vegetables for their daily consumption and even for the local market. They are aware that a meal is not complete when not balanced in terms of diet. Though strange, this innovative method has proven time and energy-sparing and soil-protecting.
Angela Kimuyu who lives in Nzayo village in Mtito Andei division, has engaged into sack farming and is very proud about it. She says with the new method vegetables get cheaper. Moreover, she uses very little water and no labor is required to take care of the vegetables, as the sacks keep weeds away.
One bucket of water is enough for a sack every week, says Kimuyu, adding that all the water she uses comes from her well.
Thank you very much for posting this Yussuf. Good job. Thanks for sharing. I miss home, Africa my Mother. I think that we are the most creative beings that ever exist. God bless!!
