The Studiologic VMK-161plus is the world's first 61-note graded hammer-action controller. Some features include semi-weighted waterfall-action keyboard, 8 assignable switches and knobs, 9 assignable faders, 5 sequencer transport controls, 30 preset locations, and velocity sensitive keys.

  • @awaken77 That's because Nord uses nothing but Fatar keybeds. Korg? don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised.

  • @ferrybeer

God no. Most MIDI keyboards are plastic toys, not musical instruments. FATAR / Studiologic make some of the only semi-acceptable key actions.

I've lost count of the number of MIDI keyboardists who've given up on plastic MIDI keyboard and use old synths as MIDI controllers because the key action is so much better.

That said, as I say, FATAR/Studiologic have better-than-average reputation on key action.

  • I have the Axiom 61 and its great. But I wish they made a waterfall key board version. when you solo fast from the top of the keyboard to the bottom you can get your thumbnail caught on the Divingboard keys. but action is good.

  • beware if you think you'll be using aftertouch at all. i purchased one and the aftertouch was very glltchy, meaning it would work intermittently. i sent it back for another and had the same exact problem. i guess it's not a big deal if you're just using it for organ softsynths........

  • great keyboard for NI B4 II!!!! LOL

  • If you'd like to use more than 1 module at the same time in separeted midi channels, you'd choose another midi controller.

To change the VMK's preset you must wait ~3 seconds and be careful for the hanging notes.

But luckily that is a function what I don't need... :)

  • I don't have the waterfall action board but I do own the hammer-action version of this board and its a quality board with smooth action. Although programming the knobs and sliders is a bit tedious.

  • Has anybody tried this board?

I'm interested in the waterfall keys + aftertouch.

Not so interested in the sliders - I have my own better ones.
