Mintoo the Vendor in Monastiraki, Athens, Greece

Mintoo is from Bangladesh. He is a vendor on the narrow streets of Monastiraki, always on alert for the police. Mintoo earns his Euro selling rubber-like figures that, when smashed to the ground, transform into blobs and quickly regain their original shape. As a rule, Mintoo is invisible to the strolling public although on occasion, a fleeting glance brings hope for a quick sale. Watch as Mintoo's space, is violated by a passerby and how his entire demeanor is transformed in a matter of seconds. As I eat my souvlaki at Thanasi's, I can only wonder what is going through his mind. We became friends for just a brief moment, Mintoo had to make a living.
