One thing that I have missed on the Nord is the drawbars. Now my Nord has a set. One for upper and one for lower. The drawbarsets comes from scrapped spinnets. The electronics from Doepf in Germany.
Total cost 200 euros.
It makes a very big difference for the playability of the instrument. You register differently with the drawbars and it is so much faster to arrive at you favourite sound.

The Nord is played through a dual leslie set up. One 145 and one setup with motionsound top and Leslie 110 bottom. One Leslise speaker is fun. Two is mind blowing.

I have now covered it up and will upload a vid as soon as I get it back. A friend borrowed it for a gig.
Regards Frederick

  • Wow this is crazy and very bizzare but oh so cool and technical!

  • @radio686

It is actually quite simple. two midicards from doepfer + two old drawbars sets from spinnet organs.

  • Hai Frederick can you build one for me??

    Regards Paul from holland

  • Hi Paul.

Afraid that i do not have any more scrapped drawbars. You could build them with linear pots.

If you can handle a soldering iron it is not that hard really.

  • It is not that hard actually

It took me 5 hours for the first prototype on saturday.

Then 5 hours or so on sunday to get the woodwoork.

Remaining is 4 - 5 hours covering the thing up

You could do it with liniear pots as well.

The midi boards are supplied doepfer in germany

  • Which board from Doepfer did you use? This is a great idea, might not be a bad deal either for those wanting a computer controlled virtual Hammond as well. Thanks for sharing your idea and video!

  • COPY OF LEGENDARY AND RESPECTABLE UNRIVALED HAMMOND ORGAN

  • Still find it a pity that the C1 and C2 do not have real drawbars and are not available in black. If Nord would do that, I'll get the thing the moment it appears in stores. It's at least as good as the XK-3C. Add some pedals, and you are done for less than half the price of the Mini-B.

  • Finally...the drawbars for Clavia C-1!!! Era ora!!!(Excused me...my English is very BAD...)

  • Hello, I am really hoping for some direction. I have a Nord C2 and I want to add sometype of drawbars like you have done. I have a Roland VK7 that has broke and can't be repaired. I am wondering if I could use the drawbars from that and any other parts from it to build something like you have done?

  • awesome! I am guessing you are using the doepfer pocket electronic? so are the drawbars actual linear potentiometers? I have an old Hammond m102 and was thinking of building one of these, not sure how the drawbars connect to the unit (as switches) or if you have to modify them at all?

  • dude this is brilliant! thats the first thing that i thought of being a draw back with these nord organs but it seems youve gotten past that!

  • Well, I think it is awesome...you should build these and market these as I'm sure just like myself...others would want to have this add on feature for their Nord C1's and C2's
