This is arguably the shortest high speed quad at Vail, with 8 towers and 52 chairs. It's also one of the newest.
The Sourdough Express lift was in proposal for many years. Although it does seem a little ridiculous to consider installing a high speed quad on a lift line that would be more suitable for a triple chairlift, it was built with one benefit in mind. This lift replaces a triple chairlift, but follows a different alignment (running up the skier's right side of Sourdough Trail instead of the left), so that skiers have more direct access to Two Elk Lodge.
This lift is primarily used as a way to get from Patrol Headquarters to Blue Sky Basin by way of the China Bowl.
