Thanks to all the voters! Atlanta's Jerusalem House was one of four non-profits in America that competed for a $25,000 grant from the Home Depot Foundation in June 2011. With 48,000 votes cast, Jerusalem House won by 200 votes.

Jerusalem House is one of the largest housing providers in America for people affected by HIV/AIDS. Since 1989, Jerusalem House has provided housing for many hundreds of homeless and low-income families and individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. Among countless other awards, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recognized Jerusalem House with the "Award for Innovative Service to the Homeless."

Jerusalem House will apply these funds to their "Family Program" that services HIV+ single mothers and their children. They will use the funds to build safer access to transportation for JH clients.

Jerusalem House is not a faith-based organization. Jerusalem House was originally just one house for 5 homeless individuals with AIDS, in the days when AIDS was considered a death sentence. The founders of Jerusalem House envisioned a peaceful oasis where these individuals could die with dignity; the word "Jerusalem" means "dwelling of peace."

Thank you Home Depot Foundation for this opportunity. Special thanks to the MARY POPPINS National Tour cast for their support of Jerusalem House - and in particular to Bailey Grey, Elizabeth Broadhurst, Dennis Moench and William Johnson for this wonderful performance of William Finn's "I Love You Song" from The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Original videography by Dan Lax; video editing by Kevin Ireland.
