Why Are You Picking on Islam?

I've been getting a number of questions from Muslim contributors that go something like this: "There are lots of other religions. Why just pick on us?"
Well I've not made it a secret that I don't consider any religion has demonstrated its claims to divine truth.
Islam is just one of the religious fantasy games that I refuse to play because I'm simply too busy dealing with a different form of reality - good old common-sense - stuff that's generally testable and repeatable and thoroughly wholesome - at least to me, anyway.
So, Islam, I'm not singling you out for special attention because your chop logic is any more deranged and man-made than the rest of religions. They're all much of a muchness.
But there is a difference that I do think means that Islam singles itself out, and has done ever since Mohammed realised what his sword hand was really for.
With Islam there's the small matter of its wanting to take over the 21st Century world either by force or by stealth. It doesn't matter which they use and in what ratio. The central and scary bit for me is that Islam wants to replace the vibrant living creature that is my freedom of thought & speech with the wizened, hollow cadaver that is the mean-spirited outpourings of a bunch of long-dead 7th Century desert conmen.
That's my problem. When Hinduism or Judaism, Methodism or Scientology, Greenpeace or the British Humanist Association pose the same threat, I will stand up against them with the same firm resolve as that which presently straightens my humble back as I stand in the every growing shadow of Islam.
Even the moderate and mystical Muslims I know don't seem to possess a flexible sense of humour or proportion when it comes to the basic tenets of their faith. They take the Qur'an and the person of Mohammed so seriously and unquestioningly that if there was ever a conflict between their comfort zone and my comfort zone (you know, the place where you keep your highest values like freedom, truth, common-sense, fairness etc), I really am not confident that they would be able to allow me any quarter at all.
I don't think they have any intellectual or moral framework sufficiently strong and independent of their Islamic roots to withstand the calls from their imams and clerics (that will surely come) as the Qur'an's bitter and twisted words are forged into bitter and twisted reality in the form of Sharia law within a Muslim theocracy. You simply don't see moderate Muslims en masse going around with placards protesting against the extremes of the Qur'an and the Hadith and the other bile that emanates from the so-called more fundamentalist members of their 'religion of peace'. And that's now - within a Western society that still tries to call itself free. Imagine them doing it when the crescent moon if flying over what was once our parliament buildings?
So, in answer to my Muslim questioners, that is why I cannot relent in my criticism of Islam. Islam represents a genuine threat to what I hold dear.
What I can say is that my verbal criticisms would stop over night if all Muslims dispensed with the Qur'an, Hadith and all other hateful tenets of faith and replaced them with written codes of behaviour that eschew all forms of intimidation, racism, sexism, bigotry, murder, genocide and aspiration to world domination, then I might turn my attention away from Islam and start to concentrate more on what I would really have preferred to do all along - just live. Live the short life I have without fear of religion and superstition robbing me and my loved ones of those precious and hard-earned freedoms that we in the West should protect as the most precious legacy we could ever leave our children and our children's children.

@salgamripper You have some ego thinking that his morals depend on Islam in any way. And for the record, this video does stand against other religions too. But the dark form of Christianity ended when they had their reformation in the 16th century.

Islam is in its DARK AGE, Until all the violent and bigoted passages in the Quran, Hadith and other writing are moderated, Islam must be quarantined like the disease it has turned itself into.

Nobody is picking on Islam. Islam is boring into the flesh of Western Civilization.

It is a dangerous na dprimitive idiology. We, in the West, struggled centuries for our freedom, human rights and democracy. We developed moder technologies to the benefit of millions around the world. Islam rejects modern medicine, democracy, free enterprize, individual rights and modern scientific education. It must be stopped at all costs !

@SmartGuy4today excuses me i don't talk about Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, or Atheism... i think you have a problem of generalizing ppl... and i don't live in the "corner of the world" of which you speak i was raised in the west since age 4... and i would so long as you clear up some of the climes you say about Islam its really nothing based on Islam's teachings but on the crazy ppl on the media and middle eastern affairs...
