  • How can such a judgment be underpinned?

  • Thanks so much for your answer. I agree with your definition of bebop. 'A more musical mind', mmm.... Of course their respective styles were partly dictated by their instruments. Bird played wider intervals than Bud, because that is natural to the sax. As an amateur pianist I was always surprised to find them. Perhaps Bud's playing was stricter, more logical, disciplined, like say Fats Navarro. Is that what you meant? Best to you.

  • arrodillaos ante el, caras de mono flacidos

  • bebooooooooop

  • apples and oranges comes to mind. just my humble opinion. I love them both :)

  • Well, of course it's a matter of (my)opinion, but I'll try. Bebop is a sort of Baroque style of jazz, in as much as it contains much details and filigrees. Powell's are more interesting to me - not more ornate than Parker's, but representative of a more interesting musical mind. He also is more interesting on Latin rhythms-"Un Poco Loco" is one of the most amazing pieces in any genre. However, I'm not impressed by Bud's ballad style . . .

  • Powell was a better improviser than Parker IMHO

  • bird and bud r both the same
