Running For My Existence

This is the first video that I made for my project "Running For My Existence" which I started in June of 2008. This project is about my goal of running the Boston Marathon in 2009 and in the process lose ~75-100 pounds and most important, raise as much money as I can for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF.org).

My father ran the Boston Marathon when I was 7 years old and it has always been a lifelong dream to run it before I turned 50. Right after I turned 47, and after coming to the realization that I would never be on the show "The Biggest Loser", I started training on June 7th, 2008. At that time I weighed 276.7 pounds. In order to finish the marathon I will have to completely change my exercise routine, diet and my life. I have 10 months.

I am raising money for the CFF.org so that they can hopefully find a cure to save the life of my 9 year old niece Julia who has been battling this disease since she was diagnosed with it when she was 1 week old. The song is from Angels and Airwaves and is called "Heaven". I initially listened to it when I started going to the gym on a casual basis at the start of the year, but found the words could be adapted to fit my agenda and motivated me to take on this project. Like the people at the end of the video, crossing the finish line for me will be "Heaven" and one of the greatest accomplishments of my life.
