Maysie Hoy talks to us about her experience editing films for Robert Altman and her current experience working with Tyler Perry as her film editor. She also talks about the differences between Avid and Final Cut Pro from a Hollywood editor's perspective.
I enjoyed this video, I really like Maysie Hoy's work. I'm still in film school and feeling a pull towards editing, I think she's good.

@SamsEditReel I'd love to see some of the famous techniques being used in big movies, what program they're using, how much they use 3D models and how much they actually work in 2D, and so on. There is so much to know, that I don't know.

@Godisen007 why? I can just about guarantee that you'll be bored out of your tree. It's not something that's well suited to video. Someone moves a mouse and uses a few keyboard commands, watches a cut over and over again while trimming slightly...it's hardly dynamic stuff.

One thing that I think it's important to clarify after watching this video: You can absolutely cut features in Final Cut Pro for projection via 35mm film. I know this because I'm an assistant on several films currently being edited in FCP which are intended for theatrical release. One film is close to online, and we've had DI meetings - footage came in as AVC-Intra, is going out of offline as ProRes 4:2:2 (HQ) and will then be color corrected and printed to film at the online facility.

This is great. I was looking for a video showing hollywood editors actually editing though, but I can't find that. Any idea what to look for?
