Des's Garden 2010 01

This is the first official garden video for me for 2010. I hope the garden will go better this year than it did last year. I have a feeling that it will. I wasn't well last year and wasn't able to tend the garden and it fell into neglect. I'm happy to have three raised beds now instead of two and one dedicated to my beloved cucurbits. I'm very excited about growing Zucca gourds. bdmoore12771
here on youtube sent me some seeds along with the yellow and green marrows I talk about. I'm also growing Orange Bulldog Pumpkins which I'm hoping will do well. They are supposed to be able to take the heat and humidity so we'll see. Pumpkins don't grow in Florida so I'm hoping they've finally made one that did. Here is a link to their video.

I'm also very excited to have gotten some seeds of Casa Banana. Scientific name is Sicana oderifera. It's a big sweet cucurbit that smells wonderful and supposedly wards off moths. We have a seed moth infestation in the house because of all the bird food bags we've bought. They're very hard to get rid off. All we can do is freeze the food.

I included a map of the second raised bed. You'll have to pause it to read everything that's in there. And don't tell me my bed is too small for these big plants. I don't expect them to stay in one square foot. I've been growing cucurbits long enough to know this. My yard is big and I'm expecting them to all spill out of the beds. Plus in the next video you'll see the smaller ones will have a trellis and a fence to climb.
