That tractor would drag your John Deere all over the yard. Tractors are meant to haul, not go fast..

@WannaBEEfarmer Not to mention that even a coal plant does a better job at scrubbing its emissions than a standard gas powered lawn tractor that has no emission controls. The energy from the coal plant is far cleaner than that from the inefficient gas tractor.

Why would you ruin these mowers by making them electric. Gas power is just so much better and I think you could probably think of many reasons why i dont to tell you. You are an idiot. How lame!

thank you. Pro active and well intended

Someone gave me one of these and I am gutting the wiring to put a PWM controller in it. I'm just trying to figure out the motor wiring now. Anyone have a clue about it?
It has a red and black wire on the back and two red wires on the front. I'm assuming it's a Perm mag motor, but I'm not sure how they have the brushes mounted inside in relation to the wiring.

Those machines are really worth alot. Collectops would buy those right up. However I think its great to be able to move your lawn with electric if you can get it from solar or wind power. Thats the direction we should be going.

Are these worth a decent amount of money today? My Dad junked a good one years ago. =0(

The oil companies needn't worry about this electric vehicle ever being produced, since their worldwide lackie corporate underlings have, it seems, all agreed with them to "Declare war Upon the Electric Car" - Riverside Press Enterprise, 1998. Try a search on "electric tractors:" big world but NONE FOR SALE IN THE WHOLE DAMNED WORLD!!!

After driving my EV for 10 years, charging it by direct DC 36 Volt (3 Unisolar 62 watt each12 Volt DC panels connected in series, to output the 36 Volts + see my video) modules, I've NEVER had the batteries go dead, the Taylor-Dunn EV just starts to slow down when the batteries get over 5 years old. Damaged terminals and cables have gone out, because I seldom maintain the hauler very well, but if anything I have Too Much Solar Energy, and can't find a 36 Volt charge controller.
Bran1har,
'We did not ruin ay poor gasser internal combustion tractors to make these.
They are all original and still running 35 plus years after GE made them.
Did I mention Original..... as in not having to have the internal combustion engine rebuilt. I may be an Idiot...but it is not because I own and electric tractor.
Opening myself up to people who have not done their homework before making negative comments. Well yes you may have me there. I am an Idiot for that.

This would be good if we did not burn coal for electricity. I vote Nuclear.

Thank you for commenting.
About 50% of electricity in the USA comes from coal.
I am surprised that you would vote Nuclear if you are a fiscal conservative and believe in small government. Going nuclear is definitely putting the majority of your power eggs in one basket, which is centralized and is controlled by big business and government. My vote goes to small decentralized independent (common folks) that produce power with solar, wind, micro hydro, steam, WVO and wood gasification. WBF :)

Hey an Elec-tek E-20 won a national tractor pull off against gassers. This guy talks about how he won at this mailing list:

Let's keep it quite.
How is a guy to make money betting in his kids at the tractor pulls???
I clearly would have made some cash off this guy if you had not let the cat out of the bag.
Those rusty old junkers sure look unassuming. Don't they?
35 years old and still running strong with all original parts.
Emotion over logic makes for cash in some ones pocket.
