This is Mighty Casey by Remco. This train is about 40 years old and is still hauling passengers and freight. The kids have a blast riding it!

  • When I was little, I begged my parents for one of these. I even remember going to one of the big department stores and seeing the engine and all the cars on display. Unfortunately, it was too expensive for my parents, so I never did get one.

Didn't they make a line of streamlined passenger cars to match the engine? All I ever see are pictures of freight cars (when I se any pics of them at all).

  • They did make passenger cars for it and Dad remembers the store having them but didn't get them. I've never seen one.

  • my grandma has a mighty casey, used to be my uncle's. me and my brother used to ride it. one day the train broke and the battery wouldn't charge, so it was stored. this august, i decided to give the train to my cousin, but i remembered that it broke. i tried to find the original battery it comes with. after a while i finally found one kidswheels, and my grandma just ordered it, when it arrives, she'll have me come over to test the train to see if it works. hoping it will, if not, it's a shame.

  • If you can't find one of these, or your kid wants one and doesn't want to wait until you find one on EBAY, I recommend a Peg Perego ride on train. Not as much detail, but my son absolutely loved it. I still have it and it's a great alternative. Does not take away how cool Mighty Casey is though!

  • @Dartacar The Battery we are using is a Werker # WKA6-12F2 6V12ah AGM sealed non-spillable battery. It was purchased at Batteries Plus alond with a 6 volt charger.

  • I just rebuilt ours this last week. Now how many laps does the battery hold its charge? What battery are you using to run the Mighty Casey? I found a Interstate battery. at their store. here in California.

  • I have one of these set up in my living room right now. It was mine as a kid and now my daughter LOVES riding it. With a little luck and a lot of care I might see my grandchildren ride it. Now that I know how to get replacement batteries it should be easy to keep this thing going for years to come.

  • Yes, they had a passenger set. Same loco with 2 cars. I've only seen pics of them myself for sale on Ebay. By the way- I believe that is a 6 volt battery, toss in a 12V and she'll FLY - (for a while).

  • dude im 19 and i want one now, its a little slow but a few tweaks and you could get that thing flying on some longer track :D

  • Thanks. I have a memory from my childhood of going with my parents to a store and seeing the engine and all the passenger cars on display on the top of one of the shelves. I wasn't sure if I'd imagined it or not. :)
