Actually - sewage and effluence isn't as bad for marine life as you would imagine. It is essentially nutrients.
A major study in the environs of the nile delta showed that major sewage outflows and agricultural waste are responsible for the fishing boom that is taking place in that part of the mediteranean.
Obviously debris should be removed at least as part effort to keep the oceans clear but sewage is not such a big deal in manageable amounts.
Plastics are the real issue.

That Pipe comes Out of the Treatment Plant...They Build It Miles Upon Miles Out So the Shit isnt floating around the beaches.

Since they stop delray's outfall in April the water has cleared up substantially in and around Delray beach. It is quit an astounding differance. I have video taped over the last 4 years at delray wreck and it has never been this clear. The ocean can heal its self very quickly if we stop pumping out posions.

Is this untreated waste coming from septic tank trunks & million dollar houses or is the waste treated discharge coming from a sweage treatment plant???

OMG!!! This is terrible! That beutiful blue water being literaly contaminated by Human waste & other forms of sewage!!
"oh well out of site out of mind right?" WRONG! I wonder what kinds of damage this is doing to the surronding marine life not to mention the water & the swimmers that are more than likely UNaware of the fact they are swimming up there eyeballs in CRAP! I see fish surronding & feeding on the plume, Is this harming them???

We have study sites downstream of the outfall pipe to determine the effects of the outfall pipe on the reef biota. We take samples at the outfall to determine the concentrations of nutreints at the source and isotopic ratio of the nutrients coming out of the pipe
