you would get hit in the head by the board if you were standing in the right spot!
-
Yeah, the set looked to be smaller than what ABC had when it first hit the air. The spinning spin was so low that it could've knocked Richard Dawson out. I'm so glad it continue to be a hit to this day.

@secondchance1977 as were Jim Perry, Gene Rayburn (who wanted to work in New York and commuted west for 70's Match Game), and Bill Cullen (when the show was slated to be taped in New York, as Perry and Cullen were New York based). Perry, though he worked in Toronto at that time as well (Definition) actually had his other home base in New York. Both Perry and Cullen moved to LA shortly after this time.

@radioactiveairhead Also FWIH that the show was originally scheduled to be taped in New York, and considered for hosts were Jim Perry, Bill Cullen, and Geoff Edwards. Once GT and NBC (who was the original client) agreed to move the show to LA, Perry and Cullen (who both then lived in New York) were eliminated, Edwards (who was LA based), Jack Narz and Richard Dawson became leading candidates.

@darkpowrjd Bill Cullen was smart - however - he has a physical problem - he can only walk very short distance and/or stays in one position - usually sitting in a chair.

I love that banjo intro without the fiddle.

@JustBob105 The Fast Money effect. The board light sequence developed at the Barker Studio was revived with the O'Hurley (and Harvey) sets. The "swoosh" that was part of the board reveal was added in 2008 (second O'Hurley season), that debuted in NBC's summer 2008 celebrity specials (that debuted the O'Hurley changes).

Did Johnny O really announce the Feud? Damn, I am getting old...
-
He announced Mindreaders, which was on NBC.
-
I think TPIR started around the same time and Johnny got that job. Same thing happened with Bill Cullen when he was being tapped to host Password Plus (he WAS going to be chosen, and then Blockbusters came up and they gave THAT to Bill instead).
-
I don't remember Johnny announcing any show that was not on CBS.
-
I wonder why Johnny Olson announced the pilot but Gene did the regular shows.
Where did you get this?

I got this back in 2000. Done a game show trade.

I saw a picture of the gboard used on this pilot and was very interested in seeing it in action. It's so strange to see "The Feud" with the different sound effects and looks. In my opinion, Mark Goodson nailed it with the Ray Combs run of the show. All of the sound effects were in place, the tempo of the theme music finally remained constant, and the board lights chased in sync. Not to mention the cool lighting on the face off podium. TRIVIA-Name the sound fx that was not used until Combs.

I agree. I think Combs' was underated as host of the Feud. As for your trivia question;the fast money answer reveal.
