Down the Cottonwood Creek trail from Horseshoe Mesa then on to the Tonto Trail over Hance Creek. We accidentally turned right too soon and climbed up the Western Arm of the Mesa instead of continuing to the Eastern Arm. It was a rookie mistake. Day 3 we hiked backed up the Grandview trail to the rim.

  • We are going back in October, but we haven't decided on our route yet. This was my first time below the rim, but I hope to go back as many times as possible...The most breath taking place I've ever been. I look forward to seeing some footage from you trip. It sounds intense!

  • Going to spend two nights on Horseshoe Mesa via the Grandview Trail at the end of April 2010. This will be my first time to the Grand Canyon so I found this video very helpful. Thanks for posting it.

  • Hey thank you very much for the post. I have a question....We are going to hike the end of May from Red Canyon towards the Hance Rapids and then towards Cottonwood through Tonto Trail....everyone says that it gets dangerous at Toroweap and Kaibab....So how dangerous it is for people who are not very experienced hikers (moderate) Do you think it is doable?

Thank you, I will appreciate any comments!

  • Thanks for sharing this video.....this shows me what I need to be prepared for.....I am planning a April 2010 trip to do the Tanner Trail to Escalante to South Kaibab (roughly 51 miles) then hang a right turn to hike up the North Kaibab. Then on the last day ...for ultimate fun....hike the Rim-to-Rim (21 mile) killer: hike down the North Kaibab and then up the South Kaibab and call it a day :) If I survive the adventure, I'll post it on Youtube.
