I bet 1 dislikes is Canonian.

the 5d2 has quite a bit of bounce when it comes back down . . . d7000 looks like butter on the way back down, and has no bounce back . . .

Wow guys, one model has a shutter that doesn't perform as smoothly so that MUST mean that every other model of that type must act the exact same way. Maybe the 5D has seen much more use then the others here? This is far from a study comparison when you have one of each

@trackend Nowadays, marketing matters most, not quality.
-
This is why Nikon sound is much more quiet. Shame on Canon.

If nikon had a flip out screen like the canon 60d. And if nikon had video quality like canon, I would buy nikon
-
@justinmumm : It9s very strange because the shutter of 5D2 is less noisier and about vibration is good as D700, maybe the mecanism of Canon is more lighter
-
@justinmumm I don't think that the bounce on the way down is the issues, the picture has already been taken. Its the bounce at the top that matters.
-
get the facts straight man, less bounce will reduce vibration while shooting in long exposure right ! i mean everything counts man

It does explain the differences in feel ... but doesn't demonstrate what happens. There would be some back pressure if the lens was attached. The test should be reshot with lens's on ... to try and replicate the air mass moving in exposure.
Canon has already announced 5D Mark III. It's quite clear that the new feature "mirror-rebound prevention mechanism" is here to address what was demonstrated in this video.

In fact, all camera were using M mode 1/60 sec. All camera were set to use their highest speed mode. For D7000, CH mode was used. Basically, you can imagine that D7000's mirror will be much slower if Quiet mode is used. I don't want to draw any conclusion here. People may argue that the stability of shutter release is more critical than mirror up and down. However, the shutter release on these camera feels very different. This video basically tells you why you feel different.
